GLOBAL WARMING

By Gus

We are living in an era in which global warming has become the most important issue for society. But currently there is no unanimous position on whether it is or not a phenomenon caused by man.

Most people agree with the reports of the ICCP (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change of the UN), which states that the phenomenon is a direct result of excessive emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) caused by the human race, and that if this continues, imminent disaster of apocalyptic proportions will happen in a period not exceeding 10 to 15 years.
Many others, often harshly criticized, attribute the phenomenon to anatural cycle of the planet; and support conspiracy theories, political interests that favor the development of certain sectors and countries, and even the idea of a great myth that sustains an entire media employment system that could serve to control a frightened society.

In my opinion few of us have the knowledge  to understand the causes and consequences certainly, but I think we don´t need to be geniuses to realize the ecological impact we are causing and the  gradual deterioration of the planet and its natural resources.

Most of the actions that claim to help combat global warming, mean saving on resources; so regardless of what might happen in 10 or 100 years, and that the phenomenon that the media tell us is completely true, an exaggeration or a lie, it is vital that we all are aware about the repercussions of our habits on the environment and start acting now for a better planet!
